120 Point Rodin Coils

The higher the density of positions at 9MOD9 which one designs into a Rodin coil, the more significant the tertiary flow effect of the Rodin coil will be.  The typically used 36 Point Coil does not maximize the density of nines and therefore wastes much of the toroid surface area. I have started winding 120 point coils in order to better maximize this aspect of coil design.

My first attempts were at making a full 360 point coil however I quickly found that on small scales (smaller toroid air cores) there is no convenient way I have been able to discover so far to mark 360 points given the surface area limit. I am however finding that the 120 point coil is a good balance of practical construction and significantly increased 9MOD9 density.

I have worked with 3 different winding configurations.

I refer to them as:

3MOD9 120 Point Winding

6MOD9 120 Point Winding

9MOD9 120 Point Winding

I have included my winding series and wiring maps for these below.

    Beautiful! have you tested levitation effects?

  2. George says:

    Excellent diagrams, Alex! Thanks for clarification.

  3. Dave says:

    Hi, interesting extrapolation of Rodin’s original. That is one pin every 3 degrees right? Was this the coil used to levetate the NdFeB ball?

  4. Alex says:

    @George
    Thanks for your compliments on my coil designs.

    @DANK
    I have worked extensively with the levitation effects the Vortex Coil is capable of, please see my video:

    @Dave
    you are correct, one pin per 3 degrees

    Did you test to see the difference with this 120 winding compared to the typical rodin coil. As I will be making a coil soon. Also good work on the site and explanation of the math… As i watch your videos on the PHI as pretty interesting with the Free Masonary and the nights Templer as was the holy grail the number code..

    Hi alex, I like your diagrams, very helpful. Have you made any of these and do you have pictures of them? It looks like you got started? I know the effect will not change much but it makes for a cleaner winding job if you are using larger and thinner torus shapes. Do you have any other diagrams with point maps less than 120? I could make my own, but If you already have it will save some time. Thanks for your contribution.
